La Quinta takes the Venezia watch to the Lagoon
As part of the city branding project with the city of Venice, La Quinta has signed a new licensing agreement with Terra Cielo Mare for an exclusive watch featuring the winged lion brand 18/09/2007

Milan, 18th September 2007- As part of the development of the licensed products associated with the Venice brand, La Quinta, strategic partner of the Venice Municipal Authority for the implementation of the project, has sealed a new licensing agreement with Terra Cielo Mare. The agreement is for the production of an exclusive, limited edition watch bearing the Venice brand.

The watch carries countless references to the history of Venice. For the Venezia watch, inspiration was found in the Doge Grimani (1521 - 1523), who had the first osella coin minted for the City of Venice. A reproduction of the coin is used to embellished the back of the case, while key dates from Grimani’s dogeate are inserted on the most external part.

The watch has a hand-wound movement. Its steel case features classic lines. The numbers on the dial echo the same lettering used for the numbers on the clock tower in St. Mark’s Square. Another visual reference to Venice is found in the second hand dial, which reproduces a rosette inspired by the “compass rose” that can be seen in the church of San Salvador in the Mercerie quarter. The Venice brand stands out proudly beneath the number twelve. Lastly, the research into details focused on the various types of “risso” (stern iron) used on gondolas. Indeed, a small ringlet dating from 1950 here becomes a special feature on the crown. These sophisticated, unusual touches pay rightful homage to this lagoon city that is known and loved all over the world.

Terra Cielo Mare was suggested by La Quinta as licensee of the Venice brand, and approved by the Municipal Authority. This choice was based on certain key criteria that La Quinta identified in selecting companies to take part in the licensing project. For example, the quality and uniqueness of their products, and the craft tradition of Italian-made products. These values are shared by TCM and, combined with the creativity of this team, have helped to create a unique watch, characterised by distinctive elements from both an aesthetic and historic perspective.

La Quinta is an international network of consulting and services for companies and designers. It was established in 1980 as the first Italian company specialised in design and licensing for the fashion industry and it is now one of the most important companies in this sector.
